Adding Downloads To The Sims 4

There are TWO folders for custom content in The Sims 4:

  • YOUR NAME\My Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\Tray
  • This folder is for Lots and Sims

  • YOUR NAME\My Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\Mods
  • This folder is for other content, recolors, walls, floors, scripts etc

You can create subfolders within the Mods folder to organize your content; if either folder is missing from your The Sims 4 folder then just create one (make sure you check the spelling). If you accidentally delete the Resource file just start your game to get a fresh one!

    File Types

There are a number of different file types for The Sims 4 custom content, you'll need to place them in the correct folder so they will show up:

    Recolors, Walls & Floors

  • .package (Mods)
  • Lots & Sims

  • .trayitem (Tray)
  • .blueprint (Tray)
  • .bpi (Tray)
  • Sims

  • .hhi (Tray)
  • .sgi (Tray)
  • .householdbinary (Tray)
  • Script Files

  • .pyo (Mods - zipped)
  • Script files must stay inside the zip file they are downloaded in. If your browser automatically unzips downloaded zips you will need to re-zip them before using them.

It is worth noting that we do not have any script files on Parsimonious, nor are we likely to in the future!
